Leaf type: Compund and heavily fringed leaves, similar to the leaves of Goat's Beard, create a stunning contrast with the upright flower stalks.
Bloom description: Small light pink flowers are clustered very closely together and borne on multiple spikes creating a dramatic plume.
Garden uses: Dramatic flower plumes, combined with fringed foliage, create a stunning perennial display that can be enjoyed at almost any time during the year. Once the flowers have finished blooming, flower stalks can be left uncut to add verticality to a winter garden. Because Astilbe can tolerate damp soils, it is a wonderful plant to add to rain gardens.
