Bloom description: The male catkin-like flowers appear on the previous year's growth and range in color from light green to red. The female flowers appear on new growth and range from shades of pink to red.

Garden uses: This tree can be used as a mass planting for aesthetic uses or even as a means of creating privacy.

Wildlife benefits: Pine seeds are eaten by game birds as well as some seed-eating songbirds.
