
Leaf type: Light-green leaves are simple and lobed (3 in. long).
Bloom description: Daisy-like flower heads (to 2 in. diameter). The rays are red to burgundy with yellow tips and the disks are red to purple. Colors will vary with soil conditions and environment.
Garden uses: Grows in sandy and well-drained areas. It has a high drought tolerance and does best with a dry, hot climate in full sun. Its vibrantly colored flowers can be seen carpeting fields and the sides of highways.
Wildlife benefits: Flowers provide nectar for numerous pollinators, including butterflies and moths.
