Crystal Bridges Partners with Cox Mobile to Offer Free Admission to Knowing the West for Veterans, Active-Duty Military, and their Families

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — In celebration of Veteran’s Day and the museum’s 13th birthday, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art announced today it will offer free admission to its temporary exhibition, Knowing the West, to veterans, active-duty military, and their families. Presented by Cox Mobile, Cox Communications has partnered with Crystal Bridges to extend this offer from Veteran’s Day, November 11, through December 31.

“On behalf of the more than 300 Arkansas-based Cox employees, including many among them who have served honorably, we are grateful for the opportunity for Cox Mobile to extend free visitation to veterans to Knowing the West through the end of December,” said Cox Arkansas Vice President Tina Gabbard. “Cox Mobile and Cox Communications are all about connecting communities and we couldn’t think of a better partner than Crystal Bridges to help honor our nation’s service members.”

Knowing the West is the first major traveling exhibition to embrace the American West as more inclusive, complex, and reflective of the diverse peoples who contributed to art and life there.

The exhibition presents more than 120 historic works by Native American and non-Native American artists, including textiles, baskets, paintings, pottery, sculpture, beadwork, saddles, and prints. Whether informed by lived experience or popular culture, Americans often feel they “know the West.” Knowing the West honors and expands these impressions.

Knowing the West is on view at Crystal Bridges from September 14, 2024, through January 27, 2025. Tickets to the exhibition are $12 for adults. Tribal citizens, museum members, SNAP participants, veterans, and youth 18 and under are free. This new Cox Mobile offer extends the free veterans' and active-duty military tickets to their families through the end of 2024.

Knowing the West is supported by a planning grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and by Terra Foundation for American Art.
