A Summer Landing, Igdlorssuit, Greenland

Rockwell Kent considered Greenland to be an earthly paradise. He traveled to the island in 1929, 1931, and 1934. Even after months of dark winter days in a small settlement above the Arctic Circle, his enthusiasm for its natural wonders endured. In Greenland Landscape, he emphasized the awe-inspiring scale of the environment with small figures dwarfed by the mountainous terrain.
